DigiYatra is an initiative of MOCA & Digi Yatra Foundation. It provides a Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel (BEST) experience based on Facial Recognition System (FRS). It aims to provide contactless identification of passengers at key check points like, Airport Entry, Security Check and Boarding Gate.
DigiYatra: A Step-By-Step Guide to Use the Service
In the past few years, many initiatives have been introduced to make air travel a seamless and hassle-free experience for flyers. One step taken in this direction is the inauguration of the DigiYatra Delhi Airport service on December 1, 2022. The unique program aims to simplify and enhance the airport experience for flyers.
Currently available for domestic departures, DigiYatra uses facial recognition technology to simplify the terminal entry and security clearance at the airport. It is a decentralized mobile-based ID storage platform where you can digitally save your ID and travel documents. With your face as your new boarding pass, now skip the queues at the airport and save time for terminal entry and pre-security checks. Because Flyers can enjoy the benefit of reduced waiting time and limited physical contact on availing of this facility.

What is the step-by-step procedure for using DigiYatra?
Using DigiYatra can benefit flyers in several ways. But, to avail of these advantages, it is necessary to follow the required steps in a given sequence:
To use the DigiYatra app, follow this enrollment process:
Step 1: Install the DigiYatra app on your phone from Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS). Once the installation is complete, you will ask to register using your mobile number. You can do this by entering the OTP sent to your phone.
Step 2: Once you have register on DigiYatra, you will be asked to link your ID credentials using Digi Locker or Offline Aadhaar. If you opt for the second option, you will be ask to upload an XML file. Here, you should note that Aadhaar below five years of age will not be accepted.
Step 3: In the next step, you will prompt to provide a selfie. So, click a picture and upload it on the app. Make sure your image is clear and has no obstructions.
Step 4: To complete the enrollment procedure, upload your boarding pass on the DigiYatra app and share it with the departure airport. Ensure your name on the flight ticket, Aadhaar, and boarding pass are the same when uploading documents.
How to create your face ID in DigiYatra app
- Download DigiYatra app by Digi Yatra Foundation on your Android or iOS smartphone.
- Now register in the app using your Aadhar linked mobile number.
- Thirdly Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number to verify.
- Next link your ID credentials using Digi Locker or offline Aadhaar option.
- The app will further prompt you to take a selfie picture. Take a clear selfie and upload it in the app to verify your facial ID linked to Aadhaar.
- Following the process, if you are travelling and have your flight details, then update your boarding pass information in the app which you will have to share during the departure process at the airport.
- It is to be note that after creating the DigiYatra ID, you will have to go to the registration kiosk at the airport to validate the ID.
- Similarly If you have submit Aadhaar details, the verification will done online as Aadhaar cards already have biometric information.
- However, if you have shared another ID, CISF will manually verify it. Once the details are verify, your details will add to DigiYatra app for future travel.
When you have reached the airport, follow this procedure:
Stage 1: Arrive at the entry e-gate, Gate no. 2A, terminal 3, to use DigiYatra. Currently, the service is only available here. At the gate, share and scan your bar-coded boarding pass/mobile boarding pass. So, look into the camera of the facial recognition system installed at the gate. After successful validation, the e-gate will open automatically to allow entry.
Stage 2: After entering the terminal, drop your luggage at the airline check-in desk. However, if you are not travelling with bags and suitcases, head straight for DigiYatra Gate at Zone 1 PESC, located nearby business class entry. Look into the facial recognition system installed at the e-gate. After successful validation, Moreover the gates will open to let you in for a security check.
Stage 3: At the last stage, use DigiYatra registration to pass through the boarding gate. (Currently available only at limited gates)

PROCESSES AT AIRPORT
- Firstly At the entry point E-Gate the Pax will scan his boarding pass or e-ticket (Print or a soft copy in mobile).
- Secondly On scanning the bar code/ QR code the system will validate the passenger details and flight details.
- Digi Yatra airport ID will verify the identity by Face Recognition.
- On successful verification of Ticket and Digi Yatra ID, e-Gate will open. Also, Face with ticket PNR is made in single token for the rest of the journey at the airport.
- After that Passenger will gain entry to security area and aircraft Boarding through Digiyatra Delhi airport e-Gate operated on Facial Recognition System.
