Zootopia, a Disney animated film released in 2016, was a huge success in China. The film follows the ambition of a friend, Judy Hopps, who is recruited into the Zootopia Police Department as a rookie officer. Discovering a sinister plot, he enlists the help of an artist, a fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the case and prove his power to Chief Bogo. The film turned out to be one of the highest-grossing foreign language cartoons in China.
It is Disney’s first Zootopia theme park and the eighth to be opened at the Shanghai Disney Resort. The Chinese capital welcomed a Disney theme park for the first time in 2018. It was later expanded to include a Toy Story-themed movie in 2018. After the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions in 2022, China is slowly seeing a return to travel and domestic experiences. Shanghai Disney Resort is one of the beneficiaries of this return.
According to a report from Shanghai Disney Resort President and General Manager Joe Schott says that over the past year, people have come out of this virus by going outside and living a healthy life. Walt Disney also saw high attendance at the Shanghai and Hong Kong theme parks. This resulted in a 31 percent increase in the Experience category. And the park is an important part of this division. Note that Shanghai Disney Resort is a joint venture between Disneyland and Shendi Group which owns 57%.

According to Yicai Global, the CEO of Disney Experiences Josh D’Amaro revealed that Shanghai Disneyland has proven to be a great success with 13 million visitors in 2023, they will go with great success which well in their record year. When it comes to Zootopia, visitors can have a relaxing time in the animal shelter. Zootopia: Hot Pursuit is a horror-free adventure where guests can join the film’s main characters, Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, on the chase.
