Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation (UKMRC) is establishing the Dehradun-Haridwar-Rishikesh metro corridor to provide people-friendly transportation facilities. Construction of the future railway metro project in Uttarakhand will begin shortly. Metro services in Dehradun are expected to start operating in three years, which will be of great benefit to people. The elevated metro is expected to be built in two phases.
Improve connectivity and make travel easier
Thanks to the initiative, Rishikesh and Haridwar will have better connectivity and increased foot traffic. The Dehradun-Haridwar-Rishikesh subway corridor will be able to carry around one lakh of passengers per day once operational. Due to this, traffic on the roads will be significantly reduced. Using primary and secondary traffic data, Uttarakhand Metro Rail, Urban Infrastructure and Building Construction Corporation Limited prepared a detailed project report for Metro Neo, an innovative transportation system. The estimated cost of the entire project will be Rs ₹40,150 crores.
Two phases, details of the route
Line 1: from Haridwar to Rishikesh
The metro line should start near the Jatwara bridge in Jwalapur and end at the Chandrabhaga bridge in Rishikesh. The metro will run parallel to the Haridwar-Rishikesh highway. The number of stations here is 10.
Line 2: Dehradun (ISBT) to Nepali Farm
After Nepali Farm, following National Highway-7, the line will connect with Dehradun City Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT) via Vidhan Sabha.
