According to the Deccan Herald, Tiffany Townsend, EVP-Global Communications, New York City Tourism and Conventions, highlighted the number of Indian tourists visiting India. She revealed that New York City is preparing to host 3,067 lakh Indian tourists by the end of 2023.

Townsend told the Deccan Herald that a quick return to tourism will help New York’s economic recovery. The city has supported around 3.4 lakh jobs in the entertainment and hospitality sector. Regarding international tourists, New York City hopes to welcome 1.14 crore tourists from around the world this year. This includes 3.06 lakh Indians.

In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, India welcomed 1.35 crore foreign tourists including 3.36 lakh from India. Tiffany Townsend said India will always be an important market for inbound travel to New York. So what do Indian tourists like to do in New York? It says that Indian tourists are the fourth largest spenders in the international market. They alone spend ₹ 5798 crore in the US country.

Tiffany Townsend said that Indian tourists often stay in hotels, restaurants, shopping and other activities in New York. It is clear that Indian tourists like to invest their income in entertainment such as concerts, art galleries, iconic landmarks, sports clubs, museums and even Broadway shows.
