Sheikh Khalifa has been president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004.
The UAE president and ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, died on Friday, according to local reports quoting the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.
“The Ministry of Presidential Affairs condoles the people of the United Arab Emirates, the Arab and Islamic nation and the world for the death of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates”, a WAM statement read.
Sheikh Khalifa has been president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004.
The Ministry of Presidential Affairs announced 40 days of mourning over the death of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi, the Khaleej Times reported.
Flags will fly at half mast and ministries, departments, federal and local institutions will suspend work from today.
