External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar announced Operation Ajay yesterday. This is an attempt to save Indians still stuck in Israel. According to his message on X (formerly Twitter), the government is committed to the safety and security of citizens of India and Israel. The ministry also said that the chartered flights will be used for all Indian citizens who want to return to their homes. Other arrangements will be made, in addition to these charter flights. The first batch of Indians will return by these flights today.
18,000 Indians In Israel; Embassy Provides Help
According to the Consul General of Israel in Mumbai, Kobbi Shoshani, there are a total of 18,000 Indians registered in Israel. Of these, about 1,000 are students. The Indian Embassy in Israel is working round the clock to ensure that Indian citizens who wish to return home can do so as quickly as possible.
